strange day
woke up early to jump a fence (that has a sign saying "no trespassing, stay out of pond") to fetch my beloved disc golf disc. same disc i lost Sunday (Bryan and I saw it in the pond) on hole 7 in Golden, Colorado. not only was this the 2nd time having been to the pond, it was the 4th. see, i also went there last night, in an attempt to find it (once without a flashlight, once with), and then again this afternoon. so far, i’ve retrieved 2 discs from the pond (3 in the state of Colorado this year). oh, and this pond is about 10 miles from where i’m staying. i’m planning on going back this weekend. hopefully the silt will have settled.
besides that, Kingsly Barham called me today. some guy out of Atlanta trying to get me to work for him. i’m not sure if it’s the same guy that did the 9/11 trading cards, but how many guys by this name are there? he was starting up a consulting thing, doing offshore insurance.
Kingsly called before i took a nap. after the adventure this morning, which Anders has on video, we went to Home Depot to pay the full price on the carpet install for his basement. well, the person they sent to measure, on Saturday, was basically incompetent. the measurements are wrong and they’re incompetent.
on the way back from Home Depot, which took an hour (not including the door purchase (which was hanging more than half way out the back of the “work car / Nissan Altima”) we saw a woman walking her cat, sans leash. we passed her, obviously staring and barely avoiding the curb. i thought it was a dog. upon further inspection, it was a cat. the woman was actually romping with the animal in this small park. we turned around with the intent of saying something. we drove by again, turned around and stopped on the wrong side of the road. radio off, windows down, Anders yelled at her asking if it was a cat. she said it was, with the voice of suspect. as if we were the strange ones. he then said he’d never seen anyone walk a cat, said goodbye, drove away.
after that fiasco, we had to eat. we cooked up 11 eggs (with hot sauce and Swiss cheese) and four slices of toast. we didn’t have bacon. normally, we eat half a package.
finally, it being a holiday, Anders and his fiancée planned on getting their marriage license. i had even planned on going to take photos and pitch drywall crumbs (rice bloats the stomachs of birds, and drywall would be fitting since we just finished his basement). well, they didn’t go because it was a holiday. strange, because that’s happened once before to me (except the photos and drywall/rice).
